White Mountain Hiking Trails

Hiking in the White Mountains Trail System

Explore the dozens of hiking trails around Pinetop-Lakeside in the White Mountains. These trails range from easy, wheelchair-accessible paths to more challenging hikes. As you wander through Ponderosa pines, junipers, cedars, and grassy meadows, you'll be treated to stunning views of the White Mountains and have plenty of chances to see wildlife near the trails, lakes, and streams.

Trails for Everyone

Whether you're going for a casual after-dinner walk or a serious hike, the White Mountains Trail System is perfect for your adventure. Centered around Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside, the system offers over 200 miles of trails at an average elevation of 7,000 feet. The high altitude means the air is thin, so be prepared to feel breathless and stay hydrated.

Well-Planned Routes

The trail system features carefully planned loops of varying lengths and difficulties. Most trails connect with others or have shortcuts, offering many options for your hike.

Non-Motorized Fun

These trails are for non-motorized use, so expect to share the paths with fellow hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and, in winter, cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Enjoy the beautiful forests and diverse wildlife along the way.

Ready for an adventure? The White Mountains Trail System awaits!
